Description

Converse has given their classic low-top kicks a monochrome makeover with the Chuck Taylor All Star Mono Canvas Ox in an all over sophisticated black hue.

The mono edition of Converse’s classic low-top kicks are right on trend - modern and sophisticated, these kicks are a must have for fashion junkies.

In 1921, a Basketball player by the name of Charles Chuck Taylor walked into Converse complaining of sore feet, so Converse gave him a job. He strenuously went on continuing with his work until shortly before his death in 1969. The 'Chucks' soon became an icon of American sportswear and with such, a position it has maintained ever since with the likes of sports stars, rock stars, skaters and surfers frequently seen sporting Chucks.

The Converse All Star Chuck Taylor is undisputedly the king of the kicks, boasting sales of over 800 million pairs worldwide. Unlike any other shoe that eventually loses its popularity, the Converse All Star Chuck Taylor is as popular today as it was in 1923, when Chuck Taylor's name was stitched onto the patch, marking their birth.

Converse All Stars are more than just shoes or a fashion statement. The history of Converse shoes spans the history of 20th century America and the evolution of Basketball. They were able to revolutionise the sport of Basketball and took a front seat in witnessing the birth of rock n' roll.

If asked to name the oldest, most popular, best selling shoe of all time, the majority would assume this title would belong to industry giants such as Nike or adidas... how wrong they would be!

In 1908 the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in Malden, Massachusetts was established and by 1910 Converse had a production line outing 4000 shoes a day. 1917 became the main turning point for the company with the aim of enhancing the performance of the wearer. The 'All Star' Basketball was introduced, at this time the sport was only 25 years old.
